Part 1:
ughhhh..
my brain is fumbling .
imtired.
This is about my visit to the Airstream factory in Jacsjoas3je83i9ek.,hser Ohio. EVERYTHING is made in OHIO by the way! I would do a bit of research on that but im not. You will have to take my word. If Katrina would of pole-valted over Louisiana and Alabama and Tennessee and Kentucky and landed on Ohio this country would of folded up and everyone would be dead right now.
The airstream factory was a lot smaller than i expected. The tour was very cool. Laster 2 hours it did. They just started NOT allowing people to bring cameras in. As of 3 months ago. So i don't have pictures. This factory is more like a custom built hand made trailer shop. No conveyor belts, no hydraulic arms spot welding aluminum. Just 5000 people wearing gloves.
These babys are HAND MADE!
Hand made in Ohio.
Now if you will excuse me this factory is shutting down.

Part 2:
OK, im awake now. here is a video of the old trailers they have in their parking lot. (Youtube version)
ps, What do you get when you cross a Nazgul (from Lord of the Rings) with a vintage airstream? THIS! YouTube version
The factory tours run daily (in Jackson Center, Ohio) at 2pm.
The tour lasts about 2 hours and you walk right alongside the trailers and the people working on them.
It was not a "Stand here and look way over there at that guy and don't cross this yellow line" tour.
At times we went inside unfinished trailers and motor homes.
We were able to talk to the the employees and they answered questions.
One nice thing was that every trailer coming off the line was different.
Different floor plans, different styles. Different designs.
You think factory and you think x amount of units rolling out a door. All looking the same. In a line, with no personality.
Its just not like that.
It is more like a hand-made custom-built trailer shop!
If you ever get a chance, check it out!
p.s I herd Friday is a bad day to go because they shut the line down?
